Catalan newspaper Sport claim that Barcelona are considering a potential move for former Real Madrid star Angel di Maria.
With Liverpool refusing to sell Philippe Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund reluctant to part ways with Ousmane Dembele, the Argentinean may become a candidate to replace Neymar.
Di Maria has reportedly been on Barcelona’s radar for both of the past two summers but a deal has never been possible. Having arrived as one of the stars of PSG and with his past Madrid links, it is clear to see why. However, his position in France may now be under threat.
With Neymar having arrived and Kylian Mbappe rumoured to be on his way, added to an already deep attacking line-up featuring the likes of Edinson Cavani and Lucas Moura, it seems inevitable that one will have to make way.
On top of that, the Ligue Un runners up may be forced to sell a key player in order to fulfill their UEFA Financial Fair Play requirements. As Barca have money to spend, ironically originating from Paris, they may be able to ease that pressure by buying Di Maria.
The Argentina international could join up with the likes of Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano, who he always plays with for his national team. Given that and his previous La Liga success, he could be an intriguing proposition for Barcelona.
