The young Spanish midfielder re-joined the club last summer after spells at Manchester City and Villarreal, but never established himself in the first team under Luis Enrique.
With Ernesto Valverde now in charge, the former Athletic Bilbao coach is said to be unconvinced by Suarez. Whilst such an assumption would be based purely on his pre-season form, it is far from a good sign for the 23-year-old, who remains desperate to work his way into the first team at the Camp Nou.
Napoli are believed to have made an offer worth €14 million, but Suarez has no plans to abandon his progress in Catalonia and remains keen to prove his doubters wrong.
Having shone at Villarreal under Marcelino, it is clear that Suarez has the quality to become an asset to the Barcelona squad, but he will need to show Valverde what he can do.
His opportunities may be limited at the start of the campaign, but when presented to him he will look to do his best, particularly after rejecting the opportunity to move away.
He will be competing with the likes of Andre Gomes in trying to live up to the expectation when they were signed last summer.
