Leeds United have this afternoon confirmed striker Luciano Becchio has handed in a transfer request with the club.
In an official statement on the clubs official website they detailed he is looking to further his career with a move away from Elland Road as his financial demands can’t be matched by the Championship side.
Hi current contract which runs until the end of the 2014 season, sees him as the highest paid player at the club, and the announcement focuses on the disappointment of the Argentine striker looking to move to pastures new.
Two offers from foreign sides which weren’t named, have been rejected for his services, although it looks a formality the platyer will leave in January, with news of his availability spreading across to the already interested parties.
The 29-year old joined Leeds from Merida in 2008 and has gone on to score 76 competitive goals for the club in his five year spell in England.
