In what must be one of the most surprising pieces of news of the 2012/2013 season, Blackpool Manager Michael Appleton is set to leave the club to join fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Appleton was only appointed as Bloomfield Road on November 7th of last year, so to move on after only two months seems unheard of.

The news was first revealed last night, where the Blackpool official website stated they had received an official approach from Blackburn and weren’t commenting on the matter.

It moved along quickly this morning, with their initial approach being rejected, only to find Michael Appleton absent from the Tangerines training session.

Later on this afternoon, the former Portsmouth Manager was given permission to speak to Blackburn, and compensation had been agreed between the two sides.

Some reports suggested he wasn’t happy with the way certain processes were running at Blackpool, although he is going to be in for a surprise if he thinks it is any better at Ewood Park!

He is set to join his new side in the next 24 hours, and has mentioned to the Blackburn board that he will be wants to stay there a long time. Im guessing thats beyond Easter?…. that was a joke… Good Luck with the Venkys!
