Bristol City have this afternoon completed the signing of  versatile defender Brendan Moloney from Nottingham Forest.

He has joined the club on a free transfer after his contract was mutually terminated at The City Ground.

The right back has penned a two and a half year contract at the Championship side and is new Manager Sean O’Driscoll’s first signing for the new club.

He will wear squad number 19, and joins up with O’Driscoll once again after he was in charge of the player at Nottingham Forest until Boxing Day last year.

Speaking on the Bristol City Official Website, Moloney said: “When I heard there was an opportunity to come down I wanted to get the deal done as soon as possible.”

“It was an easy decision to make the move if I’m honest, everyone knows Bristol City are a great club.”

“I was at Forest since I was 16 so I made a lot of good friends there, but I felt for my career it was right that I moved on. I made quite a few appearances but as a player you always want to play more.”

Moloney has signed in time to be involved with his new sides game at home to relegation rivals Ipswich Town tomorrow at Ashton Gate.
