Chelsea have this afternoon confirmed they have reached an agreement with Newcastle for striker Demba Ba.
Talks have been ongoing over recent days regaring the striker who has bagged 13 goals this season, and the European Champions have met his buyout clause of £7 million.
Ba and his representatives will now discuss terms with Chelsea over the coming days, to add competition to an attack which only has Fernando Torres on their books, with the likely departure of Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool in the coming days.
The Senegalese International will be the first signing under new Manager Rafael Benitez if he decides to join, although other clubs will be on alert knowing a fee has been agreed for his services.
The forward who was in Newcastle's squad to face Everton this evening, has been withdrawn to allow him to travel to Stamford Bridge for talks.
Newcastle are already in the process of looking for a replacement for Ba, with Ligue 1 duo Loic Remy and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being touted as potential replacements
