Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini is set to stay at the club for the time being anyway due to his move to San Lorenzo falling through.
The player who is adored at St. James Park revealed earlier in the January Transfer Window that he wanted to return to his native Argentina as his wife has recently moved back there.
His move for 'personal reasons' doesn't look like materialising during this month unless another side from Argentina come in for his signature.
It will be music to the ears of The Magpies fans as a potential partnership with new signing Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa looks a sold centre back partnership in their quest to beat the drop, after falling only 2 points away from the relegation zone after Saturday's 2-1 loss at home to Reading.
The Argentinian club confirmed: "Finally, after long negotiations, we announce that Fabricio Coloccini will not join the roster of San Lorenzo. It is not possible to release the Newcastle player and therefore the club will look for another alternative to strengthen the defence."
