With the Transfer Window only a few days old, two key figures for their respective sides in the Premier League have penned long term contract extensions.
Firstly, Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross has penned a new five-and-a-half year contract at The Brittania Stadium where he has been a key part of the Potters side which has one of the strongest defences in the top flight. The centre back, 25 joined from Manchester United in 2008 for a bargain £1 million, and has played a major part in ensuring the clubs status every year in the Premier League.
Phil Jagielka followed the news of Shawcross by signing a two-year contract extension to keep him at The Toffees until 2017. The 30-year old has proved to be an excellent acquistion since joining from Sheffield United 6 years ago, and can play anywhere across the back four.
Both players have aspirations at International level, and have figured regularly in Roy Hodgson's latest squads
