During the fixture against Leeds on Sunday 16th, the Royals fans decided to show their support for Academy Manager Eamon Dolan, who recently began a course of chemotherapy, following the removal of a tumour from his bladder. Both sets of fans took part in a minutes applause in the 21st minute of the game. The 21st minute was chosen to highlight Eamon’s fantastic work with the Under 21’s at the club, and it was delivered impeccably by both the Reading and Leeds fans.
Fellow Reading fans Will Davis and Ben Strickland drew inspiration from such fantastic support and have decided to do a 120km charity cycle ride to Bristol City on the 19th September from Reading to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Will and Ben are keen cyclists and they aim to raise £750 for the cause. Donations have been coming in over the last few days, one notable donation coming from former Royals captain Jem Karacan, who donated £300 and wrote “Anything for Eamo! Good luck guys! All the best from Turkey!”.
We at the Football Family wish Eamon a very speedy recovery, and we wish the boys every success in their cycle ride to Bristol
If you can spare a few pounds, please donate by going to Will and Ben’s JustGiving page.
