Dortmund set for sprending spree

After losing the Champions League Final 2-1 to Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund aren’t sitting back and reminicing what could have been, they are planning for another assault next season including the Bundesliga title.

Losing starlet Mario Gotze to Bayern was a huge blow to Jurgen Klopp’s side, and one which hasn’t gone down favourably with supporters of the Yellow and Blacks.

With Robert Lewandowski being heavily linked with a move to the Alianz Arena in the near future, work is well underway to bring through the next crop of talented stars at the Westfalenstadion.

The first signing of the summer comes in the form of Werder Bremen defender Sokratis Papasthatopoulos, who has signed for a reported £8.1 million on a five-year contract.

Highly regarded in Germany’s top flight, this is the first signing of many for Klopp’s men, with many marquee signatures set to arrive at the club over the coming weeks.

They are closing in on four deals, which will take their spending to well over £50 million, with Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen, and Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne set to sign long term contracts for a reported £15 each in the coming days.

Other notable players to be linked to the club, who also appear to be heading to the Westfalenstadion are Atletico Mineiro starlet Bernard and Greuther Firth midfielder Edgar Prib.
