European Champions: Barcelona & Bayern Munich

They played each other a couple of weeks ago in the Champions League of which Bayern Munich came out comfortably on top, and both sides have now secured their 'Champions' Status by officially winning their respective leagues.

Firstly Bayern Munich lifted the trophy for the 23rd time after a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Augsburg with the German side winning 28 of their 33 Bundesliga matches this season, and wrapping up the trophy weeks ago.

With Guardiola and Gotze set to join the ranks in the summer, it looks very difficult for any side to get near them, with closest rivals Borussia Dortmund being over 20 points adrift this season in second place.

Barcelona, under Tito Villanova secured the La Liga title yesterday after Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 away draw at lowly Espanyol.

It was the clubs 22nd top flight title and with Mourinho leaving Real Madrid in the summer, you would expect this trend to continue for the next few years at least.

The newly crowned champions take on Atletico Madrid this evening knowing the pressure is off and they can enjoy their football once again after their embarassing thrashing over two legs in the Champions League by Bayern Munich.
