Everton have this afternoon agreed a deal for Dutch midielder Leroy Fer of FC Twente.
Fer plays his football in the Eredevisie under former England Manager Steve McLaren’s guidance, and is set to travel to Merseyside over the coming days to agree personal terms and to undergo a medical.
The Dutch International has featured regularly in Holland and has gone on to score ten goals in twenty nice appearances for his club since his move from Feyenoord in 2011.
Compared to Patrick Vieria, the player is a tall box to box midfielder which is exactly what the Toffees are looking for to bolster their squad with Thomas Hitzlsperger only extending his contract until the end of the current season.
‘The Bouncer” as he is nicknamed due to his size and strength, could complete his deal as early as tomorrow to allow him to be available for their upcoming match against West Bromwich Albion.
The Toffees currently sit fifth in the Premier League, and this signing will prove another coup for Manager David Moyes with the player set to team up with fellow International Jonny Heitinga at Goodison Park.
Everton’s official club website stated: “He will now head to Merseyside to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.”
