Five Transfers to Watch for this January

As the transfer rumors start to grow louder and louder, some names become very familiar and sometimes proves to be true with that player moving to a different club. The following are some names that you might hear a lot of in January.

Fredy Guarin, the attacking midfielder from Inter Milan has been heavily linked to a Premier League move. With both English giants Chelsea and Manchester United a bidding war my commence for obtain the play-maker. The rumored value the Italians are looking for in return is rumored to be around 15m-18m. With such interest it isn’t hard to see a deal not being met. There have also been rumors of a potential player swap as Inter looks to revitalize their attack. Both Javier Hernandez of Manchester United and Juan Mata of Chelsea have been mentioned as potential players to be used as bargaining chips to make a deal.

Juan Mata is another name that has been mentioned more often. With the lack of playing time at Chelsea and the World Cup right around the corner, the Spaniard may force a move to retain a spot on his national team come this summer. As before mentioned it is possible that Mata may be used as a broker piece for Chelsea to land Guarin from Inter but there is also interest from French giants PSG. Having had interest this summer in the attack midfielder, it would not be a surprise to see the big-spending Frenchmen open up their pocketbooks once more.

German international and Schalke 04 midfielder Julian Draxler is also the subject of many transfer rumors. These rumors started last summer when Arsenal were said to be linked to the young attacking midfielder. Again there rumor winds are swirling again but not only Arsenal are in them. Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all believed to be chasing the 20 year old German.

Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema is another high profile player which might make a January move. Since his move to Madrid, Benzema has not quite met his expectations. While not a complete disappointment it seems that the Frenchman’s time at the Bernabeau is limited. Real have been linked with a bid for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski. Again, Arsenal is rumored in making another high profile purchase and should have some influence from French manger Arsene Wenger.

Ilkay Gundogan is a name to watch out for this January as well. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is thought to have caught the eye of multiple clubs across Europe. The 23-year old German international is thought to be sought after by the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona. Even though Gundogan is recovering from a back injury, teams are night scared away from this anchor in the midfield. Come January it would not be a surprise to see a bidding war open to land the signature of Gundogan.

These are surely not the only names that will be brought up this January though. Much speculation is sure to happen and it is almost certain there will be players to move. Among the other names, it is worth keeping out an eye out on the five players as they could each in their own way prove to be massive additions to any club.
