Breaking news this evening emerged from Turkey, where giants Galatasaray have confirmed they have opened negotiations with Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

A move away from Serie A has been on the cards after his wife revealed in December that they were to emigrate from Italy for pastures new.

In a statement on the clubs website:

“Galatasaray have begun talks with Inter for the transfer of Wesley Sneijder,” a statement from Galatasaray’s website confirmed.

“The public will be informed of developments.”

Sneijder hasn’t played for Inter Milan since September which had been put down to a tactical move by current Manager Andrea Stramaccioni, though inside sources have mentioned it is due to the players reluctance to sign a new contract on reduced terms.

The Dutch International is still only 28, and a move to Turkey could reinvent the creative midfielder who has shown over the years what a world class player he can be. After reports his agent was angling for a move away from the club, with QPR, Tottenham and Liverpool lto name a few linked, it finally appears his future now lies away from The San Siro.
