Inter Milan are interested in signing Corinthians startlet Paulinho, if current midfielder Philippe Coutinho finally completes his long awaited move to Liverpool.
The Serie A side are looking to bolster their ranks in midfield with key midfielder Wesley Sneijder sold to Turkish side Galatasaray last week.
Inter could only manage a 2-2 home draw to Torino yesterday, and with only Freddy Guarin and Ricky Alvarez as their creative players in the squad, they are desperately in need of a box-to-box midielder in Paulinho, who would be a perfect fit at the San Siro.
A move for the twenty four year old Brazilian International, is likely to cost the club around £16 million, which will be funded by the sale of Coutinho to Anfield in the coming days.
Corinthians director of sport Roberto de Andrade confirmed over the weekend that Inter hadn't made a formal offer for the player at this stage: "At the moment, Inter have not made contact with us," Andrade told Calciomercato.it.
"I can assure you we have not received any offers from Italy for our player."
Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni was coy on any move for the player: "I could let go of a player (Coutinho) as long as another will arrive who can help the squad. Paulinho? I won't comment on names until the window closes."
