Ipswich Town have confirmed the loan signing of defender Richard Stearman from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The full back who can also operate in central defence joins the Portman Road outfit on a loan deal until the end of the season, with a likely permanent transfer being on the cards in the summer.
He joins up with former Manager Mick McCarthy who coached him during his time at Molineux, and will help fill the void left by Bradley Orr who returned to his parent club Blackburn Rovers since Michael Appleton took charge.
A permanent transfer was discussed for the twenty-five year old although with his contract still having a year-and-a half on it, Wolves were looking to receive a fee just over £1.5 million for the player which wasn't feasible for The Tractor Boys to pay at this time, so a loan deal was initially agreed.
Stearman has been used sparingly this season under Stale Solbakken and Dean Saunders, and wasn't involved in the squad in their 2-1 home loss to Blackpool on Saturday.
