Young Eibar defender Jordi Calavera has renewed his contract with the Primera side until June 2021 and has then been loaned to recently relegated Sporting Gijon for the season.
The 22 year old joined Eibar in the summer of 2016 from Segunda division side Gimnastic but has yet to play a first team game for the Basques as he spent last season on loan at Lugo where he made 40 appearances, scoring twice.
He is highly thought of at Eibar however as his contract extension shows with him extending his current deal by two years.
After making 40 appearnaces on loan last season both Eibar and Calavera will be hoping that he can make a similar number of appearances this season. He won’t find it easy however as he will have to fight for his place alongside Alberto Lora and also Lillo who is able to play at right back as well when called upon.
The move has been decided upon as it would be better for him to be playing first team football rather than sitting in the reserves at Eibar as he would be the third choice right back behind Ander Capa and Anaitz Arbilla.
There have also been rumours that Eibar have offered Nano Mesa to Real Oviedo but that the player has said he would rather wait for other options. How much of this is true however remains to be seen.
