Tottenham Hotspur have this afternoon agreed a fee with Schalke for the permanent transfer of midfielder Lewis Holtby.
The German U21 International is out of contract at the Bundesliga side in the summer, and was initially supposed to link up with the club after the European u21 tournament in the summer.
Due to the news of influencial midfielder Sandro being ruled out for the season due to a knee injury suffered in Spurs 0-0 draw away to Queens Park Rangers, they have decided to pull the Holtby deal forward.
A fee believed to be around £1.5 million has been agreed for his services, and the talented twenty-two year old will travel to White Hart Lane in the next twenty four hours to undergo a medical with the club ahead of signing a long term contract.
The signing of Holtby will allow Schalke to tie up a deal for Brazilian International Michel Bastos from Lyon, with the player officially set to to join the club later today.
