Liverpool have this morning made an increased offer for Inter Milan midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
Their new offer is believed to be just shy of £8 million, which the club believe will be enough to prize the Brazilian away from the San Siro.
It was reported yesterday that Southampton were looking to raid Serie A once again for his services with an offer similar to that of Liverpool’s to be put forward to Inter.
New Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has strong links with the creative 20-year old after taking him on loan at Espanyol last season in La Liga.
With todays news of Liverpool pushing forward with the deal, it will be interesting to see whether any other clubs including Saints push forward to rival his signature, with only 7 days to go for the deal to be done.
If Coutinho does move to Anfield, he will be the second signing during the January Transfer Window after the arrival of Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea.
