Lunchtime Round-Up 25th January

Afternoon all,

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has strongly dismissed the latest links between Mario Balotelli and former club AC Milan and has said that Balotelli will not be going to Milan. Balotelli's future at City has been in doubt in the past couple of months, as a dip in form and also some incidents off the pitch have suggested that he could be on his way out of the club. Milan have already had a bid rejected from City and rumours of a loan move have also been denied as well. So it looks as if Mr Balotelli and his antics will be staying in the Premier League until at least the Summer

Football League chairman Greg Clarke has insisted that League One side Portsmouth will be thrown out of the Football League if they fail to exit administration by Summer. Since 2009, Portsmouth have entered administration twice, and are currently in the progress of trying to find an owner. Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has said that it is remarkable that police are still investigating Eden Hazard's kick on a Swansea City ball-boy in Swansea's Capital One Cup semi final match against Chelsea Wednesday. The club themselves didn't make a complaint over the incident, but members of the public asked South Wales Police to get involved in the incident

Blackpool have completed the loan signing of Nottingham Forest striker Matt Derbyshire until the end of the season. Derbyshire has found it hard to break into Forest's first team this season which has seen him loaned out to League One side Oldham Athletic, where he scored four goals in 10 games. The presence of Derbyshire shoud help Blackpool massively as Wes Thomas and Nouha Dicko have returned to their parent clubs

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has said that goalkeepers Rob Green and Julio Cesar will be staying at the club this month. There has been a lot of rumours linking Cesar with a loan move to Real Madrid after their number one keeper Iker Casillas sustained an injury a couple of weeks ago. While Green has come under a lot of interest from Championship club Nottingham Forest, after Lee Camp joined Norwich earlier this week

Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has been arrested on suspicion of rape. Northumbria Police are questioning him after an allegation was made by a woman yesterday. Newcastle are yet to comment on the situation

Tottenham are set to step up their interest in West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame. Diame has a £3.5 million buyout clause in his contract, and this has alerted clubs such as Arsenal as well

Liverpool and Arsenal are set to battle it out to sign Swansea captain Ashley Williams in the summer, with the asking price believed to be around the £ 8 million mark

Southend have agreed to terminate the contract of winger David Martin

Striker Reuben Reid has returned to Plymouth after his loan deal at Yeovil expired. Plymouth have also informed striker Rhys Griffiths that he is able to leave the club
