Spanish newspaper Marca say Real are open to letting Bale go in order to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer.
Zinedine Zidane has already sold Alvaro Morata but he’s said not to want four attackers – in Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale, Karim Benzema and Mbappe – in his squad.
Zidane held talks with president Florentino Perez in June – before the Champions League final in Cardiff – to let him know this was the case.
He said if Mbappe was to join – and Zidane is a huge fan of his – that one of the big boys had to go.
And the fact it’s Bale, and not one of the others, is down to his injury problems.
Marca claim Bale has begun to accept a return to the Premier League could be best for his career and moot a figure of around £90million for his departure.
It’s said that Real have held discrete talks with Manchester United and Chelsea already. United are said to have shown more interest than the latter.
Once Bale talks have opened properly, Real will then up their move for Mbappe.
But they move won’t be an easy one with interest in the Monaco star high.
Transfer guru Tancredi Palmeri said Barcelona are interested too and tweeted today: “Barcelona have hold talks with Mbappe in last 48 hours.”
Bale made just 19 La Liga appearances last season as he struggled with injury problems.
He only started on the bench in Cardiff when Real beat Juventus in the Champions League final.
