Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, according to various reports.
Morata has been linked with a summer exit from Madrid since the season finished and despite agreeing personal terms with Manchester United – a transfer fee failed to be agreed.
Premier League champions Chelsea have been keen to bolster their attacking options but they have failed to lure former striker Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge after he joined Man United and it was reported that they were now favourites to land Morata.
AC Milan have also been linked recently but it now seems that Morata looks set to join Chelsea after journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported a deal was close to completion.
Morata is well known to Antonio Conte for his time spent at Juventus, a club the latter used to manage and he is seen as the perfect replacement for Diego Costa, who looks certain to leave the club this summer.
A reported bid of in the region of £70m is said to have been discussed between club officials.
Whilst Morata’s future remains unsolved, he flew out with the Madrid squad to take part in their pre-season tour of the US.
