A New Dawn at Elland Road: Part 2

We enter the January transfer window with some work to do here at Elland Road. First out the door are Liam Moore and Connor Wickham. Wickham hasn’t worked out at all in his short stint as a Leeds player so when Reading make an offer i accept.

Liam Moore also joins Reading, David Davis and Jamal Blackman are the other major departures in Jan. In total i bring in just under £3m from the combined departures. As for incomings, Andreas Fritz a young 5* prospect keeper joins from Atletico Madrid to replace Blackman. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is the other major incoming who joins from Arsenal for £2m.

Transfers sorted its back down to serious business. Consistent league form has evaded me all season and the birth of 2021 sees nothing change on that front. A few wins followed by a few losses with the odd draw thrown in for good measure. I have hardly set the world on fire during my first year at Elland Road but i have sorted out the wage bill and brought the average age of the squad down considerably.

Johnny Russell turned out to be an inspired signing by the previous manager and he ends the season as the clubs top scorer and focal point of my team.

The FA Cup is enjoyable before Manchester United spoil it for all Leeds fans with a 3-0 win in a replay at Old Trafford. Overall the season ends in a mid table finish which the board are delighted with and offer me a extended contract which i duly sign without a second thought.

Now its down to the serious business of building a squad fit for a playoff push next season.
