Newcastle United have this evening confirmed the signing of Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy on a season-long loan deal with the option to make the move permanent in June.
The French International has been heavily linked with a move to St. James Park for the past few years and finally makes a move to Tyneside after favouring The Hoops in January who were eventually relegated.
Remy underwent a successful medical today and Newcastle have the option to make the move a permanent one in the summer for a reported £10 million.
The striker who scored six goals in fourteen appearances last season confirmed:
“It will be a huge honour to play for such a big club. I was very flattered by the Club’s interest in me”
“The Premier League is the best league in the world and that’s where I want to play.”
New Director of Football Joe Kinnear stated on the completion of Remy’s move:
“The need for us to strengthen up front was a priority and I have been working very hard to secure one of our targets.”
He looks to be joined at the Premier League side by either Aston Villa striker Darren Bent or Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis in the near future with both players in negotiations with the club.
