Newcastle have made a further move this evening after placing an offer for Bastia midfielder Florian Thauvin.

After already signing four players during the January Transfer Window, they are set to sign Moussa Sissoko tomorrow to make it five, and Thauvin will make it 6, to make Newcastle’s squad half filled with French players.

The Magpies will have to fend off strong competition in the 19-year old with Arsenal being keen on the youngster, with Manager Arsene Wenger contacting the french club on two seperate occasions this month.

Thauvin will cost around £2.5 million and it is likely Newcastle’s offer will be accepted, though they pondering the bid currently, in the hope an auction will take place with Arsenal.

The Frencb youth International has made over 20 appearances in Ligue 1 and joined Bastia from Grenoble who were liquidated in 2011.
