Newcastle United have this evening confirmed the signing of midfielder Moussa Sissoko from Toulouse for a fee of around £2.5 million.
The French International flew to Tyneside today for talks and to undergo a medical, and has signed a whopping six and a half year contract with the club.
Sissoko is the fifth signing of the January Transfer Window for Newcastle with all the recruits coming from Ligue 1 in France.
He may not be the last French player to add to the ranks at The Magpies will Bastia midfieler Florian Thauvin in talks about as a possible move to England.
The box to box midfielder will wear squad number 7 at St James’ Park and expressed his delight at signing for the club on their official website: "I am delighted to be a Newcastle United player." “It was really important to move on, to take on a new challenge.”
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said: "This transfer window has proved very productive for us and Moussa arriving is a massive plus for the club.
"He will bring drive and energy to the squad, he is a winner and that's why I'm especially pleased to have him with us.
