Here is the best team in the Premier League going by average match ratings over the season so far. The ratings are all courtesy of OPTA and are the result of intense scrutiny of every touch, run and tackle made, so the results are reliable.
Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have two players in the team, and many won't be surprised who they are, yet the fact that Manchester City have no representatives may surprise a few of you. Only 8 teams have players performing well enough to make the cut, and while seven of these teams occupy the top nine places in the table, the other is sitting right at the foot of it. While Julio Cesar won't be thanking his defensive line for his inclusion in the team, I'm sure the gratitude the other way is huge.
The most consistent performers in the season so far have been goal-machine Luis Suarez and Welsh wizard Gareth Bale with Robin Van Persie in a close third. Arsenal have the highest pass completion in the league up to now and Santi Cazorla's inclusion reflects this and Chico shows how important he is to the third best defensive record.
I have included the full team below. Who is the biggest surprise in your opinion? Let me know on twitter.
