Paris Saint Germain have reportedly laughed off initial interest from Barcelona for Angel Di Maria.
Reports on Tuesday claimed that Barcelona saw the former Real Madrid man as a potential alternative in case their move for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho fails, despite news of a fourth bid being submitted emerging on Tuesday night.
Further to the initial report that PSG were open to the idea of selling the Argentine international, who plays alongside Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano for Jorge Sampaoli’s side – it has now emerged that no such deal will be entertained.
Having spent big this summer on Neymar from Barcelona, officials at the French club know they must sell to avoid a punishment over UEFA’s Financial Fair Play ruling but owner Nasser Al Khelaifi is said to have rejected Josep Maria Bartomeu’s phone calls.
Barca have struggled in the transfer window to find suitable replacements for Neymar , despite trying for several players.
Since leaving La Liga, Di Maria has failed to reproduce that high level of form either at Manchester United in the Premier League or in Paris in Ligue 1.
A return to La Liga could appeal to the 29-year-old if Barcelona do opt to move for Di Maria should a move for Philippe Coutinho fail.
