Reading agree fee for Nick Blackman

Reading have agreed a fee with Sheffield United for striker Nick Blackman it has been revealed today.

In his weekly press conference ahead of their game versus Chelsea tomorrow night, Manager Brian McDermott confirmed his interest in the twenty-three year old, alongside a club record bid for Blackpool starlet Tom Ince.

The Premier League side have gone straight to the head of the queue for his services, with the forward recently rejecting a move to Ian Holloway's Crystal Palace, with a fee of £1.2 million being agreed for his services.

One other side is interested in the player, and before The Royals interest was confirmed today, Sheffield United Manager Danny Wilson was confident of keeping the player who has scored 14 goals for The Blades this season since his move from Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the summer.

Blackman played against Reading on Saturday, and it appears he impressed Brian McDermott to want to bring the player to the club without any previous Premier League experience.

No official word from Reading yet, though it is expected the player will travel to the Madejski Stadium tomorrow to undergo a medical and agree personal terms.
