After lengthy discussions with Manager Harry Redknapp it has been confirmed defender Ryan Nelsen will leave the club on February 1st.
The New Zealand International will hang up his boots, to return to the MLS to become the new Manager of Toronto FC.
It was revaled earlier in January that the 35-year old who has been a pivotal figure in the heart of the Queens Park Rangers defence, had accepted the opportunity of the management position, after recent reports of being interested in a coaching role at former side DC United.
Nelsen’s last game for the Premier League’s basement side will be at home to Manchester City next week.
Manager Harry Redknapp confirmed in an interview with Sky Sports: “We’re going to lose him unfortunately.” after their draw at Upton Park on Saturday.
Nelsen confirmed in his new Toronto attire: “I just love it. It’s where my head’s been for a few years now. You love everything about football but playing I didn’t really enjoy so much as coaching. When that was happening, I knew it was time.”
