News out of Germany this lunchtime have stated Schalke are to sign Brazilian midfielder Michel Baston from Olympique Lyonnais.
The twenty-nine year old is in Germany already to undergo a medical with the club before signing an 18-month loan deal for a reported £1.5 million fee.
Bastos has been interesting many parties including Premier League side Fulham during the Transfer Window, and the Bundesliga side have won his signature with another club who agreed a fee for his services being rebuffed by the winger.
Lyon club president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed over the weekend: “Michel has agreed with Schalke, but we have agreed a deal with another club which has not been mentioned in the press,” he told BeIN Sport.
The Brazilian International, who can operate at left back, or left midfield, made over 100 appearances in Ligue 1, and his loan move to Germany can be made permanent in the summer, or next year for an added £4 million.
News of the arrival of Bastos today, comes hours after influential midfielder Lewis Holtby has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur early, and will link up with the Premier League side in the coming days.
