Shelbourne Relegated

No sooner had I finished my last post when Bray Wanderers took to the pitch to face Bohemians.A point for Bray would have secured Airtricity Premier League Football for the seasiders and they took to the pitch in hope. What was to follow would have a huge impact on another Dublin team,Shelbourne.

Given that Bray have been in the bottom two most of the season,I did not expect them to get anything from the game against Bohemians. How wrong could I be.A 76th minute strike from Kieran Waters secured all three points for Bray and relegated a sad Shelbourne.

So with one round of games to go Shels are down and they will be missed from the top league. Shelbourne chairman Joe Casey had said earlier in the week that if they did drop,it would not be an overall financial meltdown in the club.I do hope Joe is correct in making that statement but I know he runs a tight ship at the Tolka Park outfit so here is hoping.Unfortunately the table does not lie and the reds now must build for next season.200px-Shels_logo_sml
