After a manic period for Saints fans, it appears that the southampton club have said “No more” to Liverpool over the sale of their highly rated defender Dejan Lovren.
Having posted a transfer request in May, and Saints receiving a £20m bid from Liverpool it seems the defender is putting his trust into the new manager Koeman. It was widely regarded he would boycott the summer training camp in Belgium after his extended holiday but he has recently re-joined his teammates in Genk.
Southampton seem to have a windfall of cash for transfers due to the sale of Lambert and Lallana both to Liverpool, and Shaw to Manchester United but Koeman seems adamant in keeping what he has left and building on this. Recent signings from Holland of Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic seemed to have calmed the nerves of Lovren and Schneiderlin who was also linked with a move to Arsenal.
It remains to be seen how much of an impact Ronald Koeman makes on his squad in Genk in the hope that Southampton do “Shut up shop” in the summer transfer window.
