Stoke City have made their first signing under new manager Mark Hughes. 24 year old Erik Pieter’s signed a deal that will keep him at the club until 2017.
The Dutchman, who plays left back , has 17 caps for his country. He will join from PSV Eindhoven for a reported fee of £3m (€3.6m), where he had made 140 appearances in all competitions.
New Stoke manager Mark Hughes is set to be looking to build a well balanced squad before the start of the new season.
Mark Hughes said:
“While Erik is predominantly a left-back, he has also played for his country as a central defender, so he gives us other options.
“We need good quality in our starting eleven and good quality back-up for all areas, which Erik will certainly give us defensively.”
