Sunderland have this afternoon completed the signing of midfielder Alfred N'Diye.
The player has been in discussions with the club since Monday, after the club agreed a fee with Turkish side Bursaspor for his services.
The defensive midfielder has been at The Stadium of Light the past few days to undergo and complete a medical, and finalise personal terms with his new side.
He has signed a three-and-a-half year contract and will wear the number 4 shirt this season after joining for a fee believed to be around £4 million.
Martin O'Neill was delighted to sign the 22-year old who is highly regarded in France and Turkey, and has become the first signing for Sunderland during the January Transfer Window.
Speaking on the clubs official website, O'Neill stated:
"He is a powerful young player and can offer us more strength in depth," said Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill.
"He will give us options and I'm delighted we have been able to bring him to the club."
The Black Cats aren't done there with their spending set to continue with the pursuit of Swansea City striker Danny Graham. The forward has been strongly linked over the past few days, and reports suggest the two clubs are close to agreeing a deal.
