Mick McCarthy has given the biggest hint yet that he would welcome a return to the Republic of Ireland's managers position soon. Whilst been interviewed by the Irish media during the week Mick said if the FAI approach Ipswich Town and ask for permission to speak to him, he would be receptive to the move.
As we all know Mick left the Irish job shortly after the Saipan issue with Roy Keane, and surely he has unfinished business with the Irish team. Although the squad is lacking world class players, Mick's passion for the job would no doubt have an effect on the players and boost them up to another level. I also think he would get a huge welcome back from the fans. I have spent time with Mick over the years talking football and the man,s passion is just what this team needs now. Mick would also be well adept at giving a few players a good kick up the backside if required to get them moving in the right direction.
If it does happen I for one would be delighted, and as it stands today he is the huge favourite to takeover. Mick has unfinished business with the Irish, so I suggest Irish chief executive John Delaney gets on the phone to Portman Road and speaks to the owners and get s Mick back in charge of this Irish team as soon as possible, we need to build for the Euro's.
