West Ham United have this evening completed the signing of former midfielder and academy graduate Joe Cole after a lengthy medical was completed today
He left Upton Park 10 years ago, and rejoins the club on a free transfer on an 18 month contract
Cole, had recently purchased a house in London during the summer, after it appeared a move to the capital was likely after his loan move ended with Ligue 1 side Lille.
The man who gave him his first team birth in football, Harry Redknapp tried his best to sign the creative midfielder, although confirmed yesterday he will be returning to The Hammers.
After lengthy discussions yesterday, Liverpool and Cole eventually agreed a severance package, after the player still had 18 months left on his contract for a reported £90,000 a week.
At 31 it could prove to be a decent signing for Manager Sam Allardyce, and will help add a creative edge to the Hammers midfield
The midfielder will go into the Hammers squad for their FA Cup tie against Manchester United this weekend
