Wolves approach Dean Saunders

Wolverhampton Wanderers have this morning made an official approach to Doncaster Rovers for Manager Dean Saunders.

The approach comes on the back of yesterday’s sacking of Stale Solbakken after their 1-0 defeat at Blue Square Premier League side Luton Town in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

Wolves have moved swiftly for his appointment, with reports strong last night that Saunders had been the clubs number 1 target, and after Solbakken had showdown talks with the clubs board last week, it comes as no surprise the wheels were already in motion.

Since his appointment at Doncaster Rovers last season, when the club were relegated from The Championship, the former Wrexham Manager has guided the side into the top two of League 1.

Rovers have managed a fantastic 9 wins from 13 away games this season, conceding just eight goals in the process. They moved level on points with leaders Tranmere Rovers yesterday after a fantastic finish by midfielder David Cotterill in a 1-0 win over Colchester.

The appointment is likely to progress quickly next week, and we will update you with further details as soon as we get it on thesportsfamily-com.thesportsfamily.com
